Brittany Read Named ACC Defender of the Week

Read earns the honor for the second time this season
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Louisville junior goalie Brittany Read was named the final ACC Defensive Player of the Week. The award is the second of the season for Read.
Read led the Cardinals in goal to a 9-8 upset over No.7 Syracuse on Saturday afternoon. Read finished the game with 10 saves, including six in the second half while the Orange were trying to mount a comeback after falling behind 5-3 in the first half. As the Orange continued to pressure, she made saves in the 10th minute and another in the sixth minute to hold Syracuse at bay.
Read leads the ACC in saves, save percentage and saves per game. She ranks third in goals against average at 9.43. Nationally, she ranks in the top 25 in all categories, including sixth in save percentage.
