
Women's Tennis Set to Host UNC and Virginia

Cards face two ranked programs
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville women's tennis team will host No. 4, University of North Carolina, and No. 40 University of Virginia this week at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. The Cardinals will face the Tar Heels at 1 p.m. on Thursday and the Cavaliers at 11 a.m. on Sunday.
Louisville enters this weekend with a record of 13-8 with a conference record of 2-7. This marks the third time in as many years that the Cardinals face off against both the Tar Heels and the Cavaliers, having lost both of the previous meetings against both teams. The Cardinals look to bounce back after losing both ACC matches last weekend to Miami (FL) and Wake Forest. Junior, Mariana Humberg won both singles matches last weekend bringing her record to 14-6 and her conference record to 4-5.  The doubles team of Pahz/Humberg took home a win against Wake Forest, and Pahz also won both of her singles matches as well. Humberg is 13-4 in doubles.
North Carolina enters Thursday's match ranked No. 4 in the nation and third in the ACC, with a record of 22-2 and a conference record of 8-1. The Tar Hells currently have six of their players ranked in the top-100 in singles play, with two girls ranked in the top-10. Senior, Hayley Carter, is currently No. 3 in the country with a record of 26-3 with a conference record of 7-0. Freshman, Sara Daavettila, is ranked No. 6 in the country with a record of 33-6 and a conference record of 4-3.
Virginia enters Sunday's match 7-10 on the season, with a conference record of 5-5. The No. 40-ranked Cavaliers started the season 5-0 in conference play, but are currently on a five match losing streak having dropped all five to ACC teams. Virginia currently has two ranked singles players, with freshman, Rosie Johanson, ranked No. 43 in the country. Johanson is 22-9 on the season, with a conference record of 5-4 and is 6-4 against nationally ranked players.Â
