
Track and Field's Henderson and Hankenson Earn All-American Honors

Emmonnie Henderson and Holly Hankenson wrap up the 2017 indoor season earning All-American accolades
College Station, Texas – Emmonnie Henderson and Holly Hankenson wrapped up the 2017 indoor season earning All-American honors at the NCAA Championship on Friday evening. Henderson earned first team All-American honors after finishing sixth in the women's shot put while Hankenson earned second team All-American honors in the pentathlon.
"Emmonnie has been to this meet before and today she was able to stay relaxed while executing at an extraordinarily high level," said head coach Dale Cowper. Her throw of 57'5" is an tremendous mark in the women's shot put!"
Henderson set a new school record in her third and fourth throws. Her fourth throw of 17.50m (57-5) placed her sixth, to earn first team All-American honors. She moved up seven spots from her 13th place finish last season. Henderson broke her previous school record of 17.17m (56-4) set earlier this season at the Hoosier Open.
"Holly did of an outstanding job today in the pentathlon," said Cowper. "This is truly the world's strongest indoor track and field competition and she was able to come out and finish 13th in her first trip to championships. While I know she's not satisfied, she competed with tremendous character today."
Hankenson finished 13th in the pentathlon with a 4,017 total points to earn second team All-American honors. She stated the day in the 60 meter hurdles, finishing 10th with a time of 8.52. In the high jump, Hankenson finished 16th with a mark of 1.57m (5-1¾ ). She finished 15th in the shot put with a throw of 11.65m (38-2¾ ). She wrapped up the day with a first place finish in the 800 meters with a time of 2:14.88.
Damar Robinson will kick off the action tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. in the high jump for the Cardinals. Dolly Nyemah will compete in the weight throw at 4:30 p.m. Then Robinson will wrap up the day in the triple jump at 5:00 p.m.
