LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville men's and women's track teams will travel to Nashville, Tenn. for the Music City Challenge this weekend.
Friday's schedule will begin at 5:00 p.m. with the men's and women's high jump and the women's weight. The running events will begin at 8:00 p.m. with the women's 200 meters, followed by the men's 200 meters at 8:30 p.m. Saturday's schedule is slated to begin at 11:00 a.m. with the women's unseeded 3000 meters, followed by the men's unseeded 3000 meters 11:30 a.m. The field events will begin at 11:30 a.m. with the unseeded women's pole vault, followed by the women's shot put at 12:00 p.m.
The women's field boasts 24 teams, including No. 3 Georgia and No. 11 Ole Miss. The men's field will have 18 teams and will boast three ranked teams - No. 7 Georgia, No. 18 Virginia Tech and No. 23 Southern Illinois.
Last Time Out: Last weekend, the men's and women's teams combined for eight top five finishes at the Meyo Invitational in Notre Dame, Ind. In total, the Cardinals finished with two wins at the meet.
Junior Jerin Allen took first in the men's high jump with a mark of 2.12m/6-11.50, while junior Javen Reeves placed second clearing 2.12m/6-11.50.
Senior Bre'Yana Wash finished first in the women's long jump with a mark of 6.18m/20-03.50. Her teammate freshman Alexis Gibbons placed fourth in the event with a jump of 6.00m/19-08.25.
Senior Emmonnie Henderson continued her success in the women's shot put finishing second with a throw of 16.53m/54-02.75. Sophomore Raven Grant also finished second in the 60-meter dash with a career best time of 7.43. Junior Oliver Newport placed second in the men's long jump clearing 7.38m/24-02.50. Senior Damar Robinson wrapped up the top five finishes with a third place finish in the men's triple jump with a mark of 15.69m/51-05.75.
