
Men’s Golf Returns to Action at the John Hayt Invitational

The Cardinals are coming off their first tournament win since 2014.
PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – Coming off its first win in three years, the University of Louisville men's golf team returns to the Sunshine State this weekend for The John Hayt, which takes place Friday through Sunday at the par-72, 6,976-yard Sawgrass Country Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
The Cardinals will field a five-man roster of Keegan de Lange, Simon Zach, Nicolas Platret, Trevor Johnson and J.D. Lehman.
On Friday, Louisville goes off the 10th tee at 9:42 a.m. ET in the order of Lehman, Zach, Platret, Johnson and de Lange. The Cardinals will be grouped with players from Campbell and Coastal Carolina.
Joining the Cardinals and host and North Florida at The Hayt are Army, Campbell, Coastal Carolina, East Carolina, Furman, Jacksonville, Liberty, Navy, North Texas, Tennessee, UAB, UCF and UCLA.
The field features four teams ranked in the top-50 of the Golfstat rankings: No. 33 Liberty, No. 36 North Florida, No. 45 UCLA and No. 49 UCF.
In capturing its first win since 2014, Louisville had to pick up five shots on the final day to win the Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate by a pair of strokes. The Cardinals won the tournament by shooting an 8-under par 284-283-289=856, while the Jaguars were 5-under par 278-287-294-859. Mississippi State and Chattanooga were tied for third, while Georgia State was fifth.
De Lange, who shot a 3-under par, had rounds of 73-68-72 for a 213 total in finishing in a tie for third place, the best career finish and his fifth in the top 10 in just two seasons.
Playing in only his fourth career event, Johnson also tied for third after shooting 69-73-71=213 for his best finish as a Cardinal. Johnson, whose best ending was a tie for 23rd, finished under par for the first time in his career.
