Erin McCrudden is one of 34 student-athletes to earn the 2017 Weaver-James-Corrigan Award
University of Louisville field hockey player Erin McCrudden was selected as a 2017 Weaver-James-Corrigan Award recipient as announced by the Atlantic Coast Conference. She was one of 54 student-athletes to earn the award and receive a $5,000 toward graduate education.
McCrudden, a senior midfielder and team co-captain from Putnam Valley, N.Y., earned 2016 Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) second team All-America honors. She posted a career-best senior campaign which included All-ACC second team honors. The two-time NFHCA All-West Region selection led the ACC and was second in the nation with 18 assists.
In 2016, she was tied for second on the team with 22 points and earned ACC Co-Offensive Player of the Week honors on Oct. 18 after scoring the game-winning goal against then-No. 3 North Carolina.
McCrudden is ranked second on Louisville's list for single season assists with 18 in 2016 and finished her career with 22 assists, placing her tied for 10th on Louisville's all-time list. She was recently named to the 2017 USA Field Hockey Developmental Team.
The health and human performance major is a two-time ACC honor roll selection. She has earned NFHCA National Academic Squad honors twice and has been named to the Athletic Director's honor roll four times.
The 2017 Weaver-James-Corrigan Award recipients will be honored at the annual Cone Health ACC Postgraduate Luncheon hosted by the Nat Greene Kiwanis Club and presented by ESPN on April 12 at the Sheraton Four Seasons Hotel Imperial Ballroom in Greensboro.
The Weaver-James-Corrigan postgraduate scholarships are awarded to selected student-athletes who intend to pursue a graduate degree following completion of their undergraduate requirements. Each recipient will receive $5,000 toward his or her graduate education. Those honored have performed with distinction in both the classroom and their respective sport, while demonstrating exemplary conduct in the community.
