White Team Dominates Second Scrimmage with a 96-64 Win

All six players tally double figures for the White team
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Experience won out in the University of Louisville men's basketball team's final Red and White Scrimmage, as the White team defeated the young Red team 96-64 on Friday evening in a unique format of four eight minute quarters.
Deng Adel led the White team in scoring with 21 points, while also adding four assists and four rebounds. V.J. King also had a stellar game for the White Squad, notching a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. The Red team's Malik Williams recorded a double-double as well, logging 21 points and 11 rebounds.
The White team jumped out to an early 7-0 lead and never looked back, finishing the first quarter with a 26-8 advantage over the Red team. The White squad was led by Quentin Snider, who went 4-4 from the field and 2-2 from beyond the arc to lead all scorers with 10 points.
Continuing their dominance into the second quarter, the White team shot a collective 71 percent from the field and a perfect 4-4 from 3-point range to increase their lead to 55-27 at the half.
Snider finished the half with 13 points and six assists to lead the White team, followed by Adel with 11 points and three assists. King added seven points and five boards, and Anas Mahmoud had a team high four blocks. Williams paced the Red team through the first half with 10 points and six rebounds, while Darius Perry tallied seven points and three assists.
Despite the scoring deficit, the Red team continued to apply offensive pressure through the second half of the game. In the final quarter, they started out with a 7-2 run highlighted by back-to-back dunks from Lance Thomas and Dwayne Sutton. Nonetheless, the White team prevailed in a final score of 96-64.
The White team finished the game shooting 62 percent from the field and 60 percent from three-point range. They held a 12-1 edge in blocks, but were out-rebounded 36-33 by the Red squad.
Snider capped off a solid night with 16 points and 13 assists, while Mahmoud led all players with seven blocks.
The Cardinals return to action on Monday, Oct. 30 when they welcome the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers to the KFC Yum! Center for an exhibition game. Tip-off is slated for 7:00 p.m.
