
Men's Golf Finishes Tied for Ninth in Fall Opener

ZIONSVILLE, IN – The University of Louisville men's golf team opened the fall season by tying for ninth-place finish at the rain-shortened Wolf Run Intercollegiate on Sunday. The tourney was hosted by Big Ten member Indiana at the Wolf Run Golf Club (Par-71, 7,155 Yards).
The event was originally scheduled for 54 holes, but was adjusted to 36 after well over an inch of rain fell on Friday night and early Saturday morning.

The Cardinals fired a team score of 42-over par 610 (393-307) to finish tied with Akron for ninth among the 14 squads.
Illinois won the event going away with a tally of seven-under par 561 (288-273). The Fighting Illini fired a blistering team score of 273 during today's final round to post a 13-stroke advantage over runner-up Purdue (277-297=574).
One of the returning starters in the lineup, Keegan de Lange posted the best finish for the Cardinals, shooting 72-72=144, while Cale Hagstrom tied for 49th in his first event for the Cardinals, firing 73-81=154. Devin Morley was tied for 56th at 78-77=155, while Trevor Johnson was tied for 58th at 80-77=157 and Nicolas Platret was tied for 68th after carding 80-81-161.
Louisville will return to the links on Sept. 18-20 when it travels to the Franklin American Intercollegiate at the Grove in Franklin, Tenn.
