
Kelli Gerding and Heidi Smith Earn IWLCA Academic Honors

Gerding and Smith were named to the 2016 IWLCA Zag Sports Division I Academic Honor Roll
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Kelli Gerding and Heidi Smith of the University of Louisville women's lacrosse team was named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Association's Academic Honor Roll, the organization announced on Friday. Gerding and Smith joined student-athletes for 96 different institutions on the 2016 IWLCA Zag Sports Division I Academic Honor Roll.
To be eligible for recognition, the student-athletes must be at least junior status academically and had a cumulative academic GPA or 3.50 or greater.
Gerding graduated in May with a degree in sports administration. She saw action in all 18 games this season and ranked second on the team in points. She led the team with 23 assists and finished the year with 26 goals and 49 points.
Smith is majoring in biology and will be a senior this fall. She played in 17 games last season and was second on the team with 22 draw controls. She finished her junior year with six goals and three assists for nine points.
Earlier this week, the women's lacrosse team was tabbed an IWLCA Division I Academic Squad for maintaining a team grade-point average of at least 3.0.
