Adam Rainaud wins stroke play event in Connecticut.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Former of University of Louisville men's golfer Adam Rainaud won the Connecticut Section PGA Spring PGA Stroke Play title last week at Ledges Golf Club, after carding a course-record-tying 9-under 63 and a 71.
His play combined for a two-day total of a 10-under 134 despite the windy conditions, which made the course play extremely difficult. Rainaud won his second Spring PGA Stroke Play Championship and he earned an exemption into the Travelers Championship August 1-7, 2016.
The assistant pro at Black Hall Club in Old Lyme, Conn., birdied 13 holes over the course of two days, including an eagle on No. 16 on Tuesday.
This will be Rainaud's second appearance at the PGA Tour's Travelers Championship, the previous appearance coming in 2014. He qualified for and missed the cut at the PGA Championship last August.
