Nicolas Rouanet leads ASA Miami to NJCAA National Championship
University of Louisville men's tennis signee Nicolas Rouanet helped ASA Miami to the 2016 NJCAA National Championship last week in Dallas Texas.
"I am so proud of Nicolas in leading his team the National Junior College Team title," said UofL head coach Rex Ecarma. "It was a five day tournament and it came down to final singles matches of the last day and he came through by winning his doubles and singles flight."
Rouanet (Gujan Mestras, France), who was recently named the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Junior College Region IV Sophomore Player of the Year, clinched the national title with a 6-1, 6-2 singles win on the final day of the tournament to give the Silver Storm its first men's tennis national championship. Rouanet won his flights in singles (No. 2) and doubles (No. 2).
"Nicolas) is a clutch competitor and with our young team we need this kind of athlete," said Ecarma. "He loves the game and it shows in the way that he plays. I can't wait to coach him."
