
Cards Close Season by Finishing 14th at NCAA Championships

Cards return four starters to the 2016-17 season.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - An impressive run by the University of Louisville men's golf team came to an end on Monday with a 14th place finish at 2016 NCAA Championships at the Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Ore.
After advancing to the fourth round of stroke play by winning the tiebreaker, the Cardinals failed to move to the match play round by firing an 11-over par 291 on Monday afternoon. Louisville finished with a four-day total of 291-282-294-291=1158.
The top eight squads advanced to match play competition on Tuesday, as Texas, Illinois, LSU, USC, Vanderbilt, Oregon, South Carolina and Oklahoma were the teams to extend its season in hopes of winning a national title.
Senior Robin Sciot-Siegrist closed his career by posting the highest finish by a Cardinal during the championships, placing in a tie for 40th after shooting a 9-over par 289. In his final round of the season, Sciot-Siegrist fired a 3-over par 73. He had a struggle for most of the day by recording one birdie and four bogeys.Â
Freshman Keegan de Lange carded the best round for the Cardinals on Monday – firing an even-par 70 with a team-high four birdies. He closed his first collegiate season by finishing in a tie for 45th after registering a 75-71-74-70=290.Â
Freshman Simon Zach tied for 57th after he fired consecutive rounds of 2-over par to close out his first season. Zach carded three birdies and also posted the lone eagle for the Cardinals when he totaled a three on the par 5 No. 4. He finished at 12-over par by carding rounds of 71-77-72-72=292.
Sophomore Erik Dulik also tied for 57th after closing out with a 6-over par 76 on Monday. After opening the tournament at 3-over par, Dulik posted the low round for the Cards as he shot a 1-under par 69 in the second round. He closed the year with a 73-69-74-76=292.
Junior J.D. Lehman tied for 81st place after shooting 73-74-78-76=301.
