Track and Field Wraps Up First Day at the NCAA East Preliminaries

Nine athletes compete for the Cardinals on Thursday

JACKSONVILLE, FLA. – The University of Louisville track and field team wrapped up the first day of competition at the NCAA East Preliminaries on Thursday night.

Oliver Newport started the day for the Cardinals in the long jump. Newport had the best finish of the day at 14^th with a mark of 7.49m (24-7).

Caitlin Gilmore led three Cardinals in the hammer throw. Gilmore finished 23^rd with a throw of 56.65m (185-10). Dolly Nyemah finished 25^th with a throw of 56.40m (185-0) while Rachel Serafin finished 27^th with a throw of 56.29m (184-8).

In the long jump, Bre'Yana Wash finished 18^th with a jump of 6.04m (19-9¾). Holly Hankenson finished 46^th with a jump of 5.39m (17-8¼).

On the track, freshman Raven Grant finished 36^th in the 100m with a time of 11.82. Kelsey Cramsey finished 47^th in the 800m with a time of 2:13.59. Calvin Chemoiywo wrapped up the meet in the 10,000m. He finished 28^th with a time of 30:38.34.

Seven athletes will compete for the Cardinals on Friday. Emmonnie Henderson will start the day in the discus at noon.
