Track and Field Set to Compete at the NCAA East Preliminary

Cardinals begin competition on Thursday afternoon
Event: 2016 NCAA East Preliminary Round
Date: May 26-28, 2016
Start Time: Noon Thursday | Noon Friday | 3:00 p.m. Saturday
Place: Hodges Stadium | Jacksonville, Fla.
Twenty four Cardinal athletes will head to Jacksonville, Fla. to compete at the 2016 NCAA East Preliminary Round. Events will begin Thursday at noon at Hodges Stadium on the University of North Florida campus.
Thursday's events feature 10 of the 24 student-athletes. Oliver Newport will be the first Cardinal to compete on Thursday in the long jump at 3:30 p.m. Rachel Serafin, Dolly Nyemah and Caitlin Gilmore will all compete in the hammer throw at 4:00 p.m. At 6:45 p.m. Bre'Yana Wash and Holly Hankenson will wrap up the field events for the day in the long jump.Â
On the track, freshman Raven Grant will compete in the 100m first round at 6:30 p.m. Senior Kelsey Cramsey will run in the 800m first round at 8:10 p.m. Ernest Kibet and Calvin Chemoiywo will wrap up the first day with the semifinals of the 10,000m.Â
Emmonnie Henderson will compete in the discus throw at noon on Friday to begin the second day of action. Isaac Bowling will follow her in the men's discus at 4:00 p.m. Jade Hawkins and Morgan Zacharais will wrap up Friday's field events in the pole vault at 5:00 p.m. while Linda Mutter will compete in the high jump at the same time.Â
Friday's track events begin at 6:30 p.m. with the 100m quarter finals should Grant advance. The 800m quarter finals will follow at 7:00 p.m. should Cramsey advance. Grant will compete in the 200m first round at 8:00 p.m. Edwin Kibichiy will run in the final event of the day at 9:30 p.m. in the 3000m steeplechase.Â
Louisville will have a full day of field events on Saturday, the final day of competition. Ben Williams will kick things off in the triple jump at 3:00 p.m. Henderson will compete in her second event, the shot put at 3:30 p.m. Damar Robinson and Javen Reeves will compete in the high jump at 5:30 p.m. while Isaac Bowling will compete in the shot put at 6:00 p.m.
Track events will begin for Louisville at 7:35 p.m. with the 200m quarter finals should Grant advance. The men's 4x400m relay team will close out the meet at 9:45 p.m.
Tickets for the meet are currently on sale, and all seating is general admission. Tickets can be purchased by calling the North Florida ticket office at (904) 620-2473 or visiting the school's athletics website. On meet day, tickets will be able to be purchased at the gate starting one hour prior to the first event.
