Freshman Keegan de Lange sits in eighth place after shooting 76 on Tuesday.
STILLWATER, Okla. - Freshman Keegan de Lange fired a 4-over par 76 and the University of Louisville men's golf team sits in fifth place after two rounds at the NCAA Stillwater Regional.
For the second-straight day, cold and windy conditions, and a difficult golf course caused the scores to soar on Tuesday morning.  All 14 teams in the regional shot over par and only three individuals were under par.Oklahoma State, the tournament's host, continues to lead the field at even par after shooting 3-over par for the regional, while fellow Big 12 foe Oklahoma is in second place at 12-over par.  Purdue is in third place at 26-over par and fellow ACC foe Clemson is in fourth place at 33-over par.
Louisville had a tough day after firing 23-over par, but is still in fifth place at 35-over par -- one shot ahead of sixth-place Augusta  and two shots in front of seventh-place McNeese State. The top five teams will advance to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon, on May 26-June 1.
"I've tried to explain to the players how difficult this golf course is," head coach Mark Crabtree said. "It's hard for them to grasp how this course challenges every aspect of their game. Simon Zach had a good round and Keegan (de Lange) hung in there. We have given ourselves an opportunity to advance and that's all we can ask."
Playing in his first regional, freshman Keegan de Lange continued his solid play on Tuesday. After shooting an even par 72 on Monday, the native Pretoria, South Africa is tied for eighth place after two rounds.
De Lange failed to record any birdies, but is ninth during the tournament with 24 pars.
"Keegan was solid again today in real tough conditions," Crabtree said. "He had a couple of good shots, but didn't make many mistakes, which isn't easy to do on this golf course."
Senior Robin Sciot-Siegrist also had to battle through tough conditions. The native of Rueil-Malmaison, France, is tied for 15th place after shooting 78 on Tuesday. He recorded a birdie on the first hole, but recorded seven bogeys on the afternoon.
Freshman Simon Zach, who shot an 8-over par 80 on Monday, responded with a 3-over par 75 to stand in 29th place.  He recorded a birdie on No. 3 and added another on No. 14.
Junior J.D. Lehman fired an 86 on Tuesday to tie for 53rd overall and sophomore Erik Dulik shot 82 to sit in a tie for 57th place.
Louisville will be paired with Clemson and  Augusta  in tomorrow's final round, teeing off hole No. 1 at 8:50 a.m. ET / 7:50 a.m. CT. The Cardinals are looking for their third NCAA Championships appearance all-time under Crabtree.
