
One Win, Three Runner-up Finishes for Louisville on Day One at Clemson

No. 20 Cardinals win second varsity four race during morning session on Lake Hartwell
CLEMSON, S.C. - The 20th-ranked Louisville rowing team earned one race win and added three runner-up finishes during the first day of competition at the Clemson Invitational on Saturday at Lake Hartwell.
On a busy day of racing with morning and afternoon sessions, the Cardinals paced the way in the second varsity four race during the morning session as the crew of Kim Streetz (coxswain), Kylie Noltemeyer, Amanda Zalno, Elizabeth Patrick and Abbi Fitts had with a time of 7:43.4 to finish nearly two seconds ahead of No. 4 Ohio State. Oklahoma was a distant third in the six-team race with a time of 7:59.6.
Louisville added its first runner-up finish of the day in the second varsity eight race during the morning session checking in with a time of 7:00.8, while No. 4 Ohio State led the way in a time of 6:52.1. UCLA was third at 7:03.4 and Tennessee was fourth in the field of seven teams in a time of 7:12.8.
During the afternoon session, the Cardinals rowed to runner-up finishes in the second varsity four and third varsity eight races. In the 2V4+ event, Louisville had a time of 7:39.5 to trail only No. 19 Syracuse (7:35.5), while UCLA was third in the six-boat race with a time of 7:41.5. The Cardinals had a time of 6:56.8 in the 3V8+ race, while No. 8 Texas paced the way at 6:51.3. No. 19 Syracuse was third in the seven-boat field in a time of 7:00.0 and No. 10 Michigan was fourth at 7:07.6.
The final day of racing at the Clemson Invitational is set to begin at 8:30 a.m., ET on Sunday.
