Cards have two players in the top 10 after two rounds
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. –- Two University of Louisville men's golfers stand in the top 10 after 36 holes at the Boilermaker Invitational on Saturday.
The first two rounds played at the Kampen Course on Saturday were played under brilliant, sun-splashed skies with light winds, which allowed teams a great chance to post low scores.
The Cardinals are in fifth place firing rounds of 288-293 for a 7-over par 583. No. 2-ranked Illinois is in first place after recording rounds of 280-277 for a 19-under par 557. Purdue is second, while Michigan State and Northwestern are tied for third at 4-over par 580.
Simon Zach and Robin Sciot-Siegrist are tied for seventh and ninth, respectively, after the first two rounds of the tournament. Zach fired a 2-under par 70-72-142, while Sciot-Siegrist, who was named to the European Palmer Cup team on Friday, shot a 1-under par 70-73=143.
Keegan de Lange, who shot an even par 72 in the first round, stumbled in the second round with a 76 to stand in a tie for 35th place with a score of 72-76=148. J.D. Lehman is tied for 51st after shooting 77-74=151. Patrick Frodigh is tied for 70th after firing an 11-over par round.
The Cardinals, who are paired with Northwestern and Kent State, will tee off beginning at 9:15 a.m.
