Track and Field Wraps Up First Day of the Louisville Invitational

Cardinals kick the event off with the hammer throw
LOUISVILLE, KY. – The University of Louisville track and field team kicked off the Louisville Invitational on Friday afternoon with two events. Caitlin Gilmore and Darrius Lopez led the Cardinals in the women's and men's hammer throw.
Gilmore finished fifth with a mark of 57.35m/188-02. Freshman Cyerra Cassell finished sixth with a personal best throw of 55.43m/181-10. Senior Rachel Serafin finished seventh with a throw of 54.38m/178-05.
Lopez finished sixth in the men's event with a new personal best mark of 58.96m/193-05. Senior Nils Westrich finished seventh with a season best mark of 57.98m/190-03. Trevor Troutman finished ninth for the Cardinals with a season best mark of 51.70m/169-07.
The Cardinals will be back in action tomorrow as they host the Louisville Invitational at Cardinal Park. Field events are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
