
Cardinals Fall to NC State

Pahz and Stokes put up wins for the Cardinals.
The University of Louisville women's tennis team fell 5-2 to NC State Friday afternoon at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.

The Cardinals dropped the doubles point when Joanna Nalborska and Bianca Moldovan dropped UofL's No. 3 pair and Olivia Boesing and Sena Suswam 6-1 at No. 3. UofL's No. 1 team of Abbie Pahz and Ariana Rodriguez fell 6-2 to Martina Frantova and Tayla Stenta.

"We are at a point where we are fragile mentally," said UofL head coach Mark Beckham. "I feel we have enough to win matches like this. My responsibility to get them thinking the right things on the court so they can perform under the most stressful situations. Every match from here on out is an opportunity but we need to start capitalizing on our opportunities."

The Wolfpack scored the first singles point when Ariana Rodriguez fell 6-2 at No.1. NC State's Amanda Rebol beat Ola Mally 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5. Abbie Pahz put the Cardinals on the board with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Tayla Stenta at No. 4.Â

NC State'ss Joanna Nalborska made it 3-1 when she beat Jessie Paul 6-3, 7-6 (4). But Elle Stokes gave the Cardinals another win by beating Bianca Moldovan 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3.  Claudia Wiktorin beat Olivia Boesing 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 at No. 6 in the final matchup.

The Cards are 6-7 and are 0-3 in the ACC. NC State improved to 7-3 overall and 1-2 in the league.
