Women's Tennis Set to Host Virginia Tech and Clemson

Cards face two nationally-ranked opponents
The University of Louisville women's tennis team will face a pair of nationally ranked ACC opponents this weekend as the No. 32 Virginia Tech Hokies arrive March 25 at 3 p.m. and the No. 21Clemson Tigers on March 27 at 11 a.m. at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.

The Cardinals come into the weekend with a 6-9 record. Louisville is led by sophomore Abbie Pahz, who is 11-4 in singles. Look for Olivia Boesing, who is 8-6 on the year, to be a solid point scorer for the Cardinals.

The 32nd-ranked Virginia Tech women's tennis team picked up another victory over a ranked conference opponent last weekend, beating No. 60 Florida State 4-3 at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center in Tallahassee. Tech now sits at 11-5 overall and 4-3 in the ACC on the season. Leading Virginia Tech into the weekend is 58th-ranked Francesca Fusinato and  boasts a win over the nation's then-top ranked player. Caroline Daxhelet enters the weekend ranked 117th Â

The Clemson Tigers are 7-5 on the season and 5-2 in ACC play, and are ranked No. 21Â in the nation according to the ITA poll released on March 15. Clemson is coming off two-straight ACC wins at home, a 6-1 victory over Florida State on March 12 and a 4-3 in over #30 Syracuse on March 13 but had a matchup versus Stanford cancelled due to rain on March 20.

The Tigers are led by Freshman Ayan Broomfield is 8-4 in dual matches this season, and 6-2 since moving up to the No. 1 singles position on Feb. 20. Broomfield was named the ACC Player of the Week this past week after her performances against the Seminoles and the Orange. Clemson's No. 3 doubles team of senior Joana Eidukonyte and sophomore Daniela Ruiz is 7-1 on the season, and 5-1 in ACC doubles matches.
