Three-day tournament begins on Friday
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville men's golf teams will compete in the 40th annual Seminole Intercollegiate this weekend on March 11-13 at Southwood Golf Club.
The 14-team field includes 10 teams ranked in the Golfstat Top 100 and four teams ranked in the Top 50, including Auburn (3), Florida State (4), Penn State (23) and Louisville (48). The other teams competing include East Tennessee State, Illinois State, Jacksonville, James Madison, Mercer, Ole Miss, Penn, Troy, VCU and West Virginia.
The 14 teams have combined for 15 tournament victories in the 2015-16 year, headlined by three wins apiece from Auburn and James Madison.
The Cardinals are led by Robin Sciot-Siegrist, who is ranked 47th in the nation in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin rankings and is a strong candidate to make the European Palmer Cup team. He leads the Cardinals with a 71.50 stroke average through six events this season, and owns a pair of top-five finishes this year.
So far this year, Sciot-Siegrist was third at the Dick's SEC Challenge and placed second at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate. Through 18 rounds, he is 6-under par in those six events and has played the last two events at 10-under par to finish seventh and eighth, respectively.
Besides Sciot-Siegrist, J.D. Lehman, Simon Zach, Keegan de Lange and Patrick Frodigh will also compete in the event. The Cardinals will tee off on the first hole at 10:10 a.m.
