
Track and Field Set to Compete at the Indoor ACC Championships

Cardinals travel to Boston College for the Indoor Championships

This Week: The Louisville men's and women's track and field teams will travel north to the Reggie Lewis Center in Roxbury Crossing, Mass., to compete in the Atlantic Coast Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships this weekend.
The ACC Indoor Championships, hosted by Boston College, will kick off on Thursday morning at 11:00 a.m. with the women's pentathlon. The men's heptathlon is scheduled to begin at 11:15 a.m. with the athletes competing in four of the seven events. Field events are scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. with the men's weight throw followed by the women's weight throw. Running events are slated to begin at 7 p.m. with the women's distance medley relay final followed by the men's distance medley relay final.
The teams will be back in action on Friday morning at 11 a.m. as the men's heptathlon concludes with the 60m hurdles, pole vault, and the 1000m run. Field events are scheduled to begin at noon with the men's high jump while running events are scheduled to begin with the women's mile run qualifiers at 2 p.m. The meet will conclude on Saturday with field events scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. with the women's shot put finals and running events are slated to begin at 12 p.m. with the women's mile run final.
Coverage will begin on ESPN3 on Friday from 5-8 p.m. followed by Saturday's coverage from 1-4 p.m. with Jerry Massey handling play-by-play duties and former 2004 Athens Olympic medalist, Lauryn Williams will be making her debut as the analyst.
The Cardinals face elite competition in the ACC with eight teams having national rankings in the latest USTFCCCA Top 25 poll. North Carolina State is the lone school that has both the women (No. 9) and the men (No. 18) nationally ranked. On the women's side, Notre Dame holds a No. 13 ranking while No. 16 Duke and No. 18 Miami are also represented. For the men, No. 11 Virginia Tech leads four ACC schools including No. 14 Syracuse, No. 18 NC State and No. 23 Virginia.
Last year in the Cardinals' inaugural ACC Indoor Championships, the men finished tied for ninth while the women finished 12th.
