Men's Basketball Defeats Bellarmine 81-60 in Final Exhibition Game

Deng Adel and Donovan Mitchell lead the Cardinals with 13 points apiece
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville's men's basketball team defeated Bellarmine University 81-60 Thursday night in the KFC Yum! Center. Donovan Mitchell and Deng Adel led the Cardinals in the final preseason tune-up with 13 points apiece.
Jaylen Johnson dominated the boards for UofL pulling down a game-high 11 rebounds and added six points. Quentin Snider was the team leader in assists with four while scoring 11 points. Tony Hicks finished with 11 points.
The Cardinals started the game on a 28-3 run over the first 11:21 of the game. Louisville also hit four of their seven first half threes during the run. Tony Hicks led the team on the run by scoring eight of his 10 first half points. The Cardinals took a 49-17 lead into the half.
Bellarmine fought back in the second half. The Knights went on a 20-6 run midway through the half. Adam Eberhard and Jarek Coles led the way during the run, both scoring six points. The Knights hit four of their six threes during their second half run.
Louisville was able to stop the run and both teams traded baskets the final five minutes of the half. The Cardinals shot 47.7 percent from the field and 47.4 percent from behind the arc. Bellarmine shot 43.1 percent from the field and 40 percent from behind the arc. Louisville held a 37-34 rebounding edge. The Cardinals scored 29 points off the Knight's 23 turnovers.
George Knott led the Knights with a game-high 15 points, four rebounds, and a steal. Rusty Troutman was Bellarmine's leader on the boards with nine rebounds. Troutman also added nine points.
The Cardinals will open the 2016-17 season on Friday, November 11th as they host Evansville at the KFC Yum! Center at 7:00 p.m.
