Deng Adel led the Cardinals with 16 points and seven rebounds on Thursday night
LOUISVILLE, KY. -- Deng Adel scored 16 points and pulled down seven rebounds to lead the University of Louisville men's basketball team to a 109-71 win over Kentucky Wesleyan in the first exhibition game of the season Thursday night in the KFC Yum! Center. Ken-Jah Bosley led the Panthers with 14 points.
"We did a lot of good things offensively, the pace was terrific," said head coach Rick Pitino. Â Â "Defensively we have a long way to go. We did a good job on our presses but the defense has to get a lot better. We will get a lot of experience from that. But offensively, we did a good job of sharing the basketball and moving the basketball."Â
No. 13/14 Louisville scored 50 points in the paint, collected eight steals and six blocked shots to dominate the Panthers inside. The Cards held a 43-30 rebounding edge.  Louisville led 51-31 at the break and never looked back.Â
The Cardinals shot 60 percent from the field, and 10 different players scored six or more points. Jaylen Johnson finished with 15 points and six rebounds. Quentin Snider and Ryan McMahon each added 14 points. Donovan Mitchell rounded out the top scorers with 11 points and four assists.Â
Louisville will wrap up exhibition play on Monday, Nov. 7 as they host Bellarmine at the KFC Yum! Center at 7:00 p.m.Â
