
Woods Set to Compete in Junior World Cup

Junior Nicole Woods and the U.S. U-21 Women's Field Hockey National Team will open Junior World Cup play Thursday
 The 2016 collegiate field hockey season has officially ended, but junior Nicole Woods is back to work, this time as part of the U.S. U-21 Women's National Team which is set to open play at the Junior World Cup on November 24.

Over the next 10 days, the 16 top junior women's teams in the world will compete for the championship title at the Club Deportivo Manquehue complex in Santiago, Chile.

The U-21 USWNT departed Norfolk, Va. in the evening on Sunday, November 20 following the NCAA Division I National Championship. The team practiced and had a test scrimmage against England before their first game on Thursday, November 24 against Zimbabwe at 12:00 p.m. EST.

In the tournament of 16, Team USA is in Pool A along with Korea, The Netherlands and Zimbabwe

Woods, a midfielder/forward from Beverly, Mass., was selected to the 2016 Junior World Cup Roster after training with the U-21 USWNT throughout the summer which included a first place finish at the 2016 Young Women's National Championship. In March 2016, she scored five goals in the 2016 Junior Pan American Championship to help Team USA to a silver medal and an automatic berth to the Junior Women's World Cup.

The two-time All-ACC selection finished her junior season five goals and 10 assists and stood fourth on the team with 20 points while earning ACC Offensive Player of the Week twice
