Redshirt freshman kicker sets the school record for points by a kicker
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville redshirt freshman placekicker Blanton Creque was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Specialist and Co-Rookie of the Week after his performance in the Cardinals' 54-13 win over NC State on Saturday.
Creque set a school record for points by a kicker with 18 in the win over the Wolfpack at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium. The Shelbyville, Ky., native tied a school record by connecting on four fields and was a perfect 6-of-6 on points-after-touchdown, breaking the mark of 16 points set by Art Carmody in 2006 and 2007
Â
Taking over as the starting kicker last weekend, Creque connected on field goals of 27, 33, 24 and 27 to improve to an ACC-best 8-of-9 on field goal attempts and 18-of-19 on PATs.
The Cardinals will look for their third-straight win on Saturday when they visit Virginia for a noon kickoff on ABC.
