- Friday's game captains for UofL were Lamar Jackson, Tobijah Hughley, Devante Peete, Keith Kelsey, DeAngelo Brown, and Brandon Radcliff.
- Louisville won the coin toss and elected to receive.
- The Cardinals' drew the eighth-largest crowd in Papa John's Cardinal Stadium history on Saturday, with 55,218 in attendance for Louisville's victory.
- Louisville scored on its opening drive, only 1:33 into the contest. With the touchdown, the Cardinals have scored on their first possession in five of their last seven games.
- Under head coach Bobby Petrino, Louisville boasts a 22-0 record at home as an Associated Press top 25 team, beating them by an average of 51-17.
- Head coach Bobby Petrino improved to 12-0 against schools from the state of North Carolina (Wake Forest: 3-0; East Carolina: 2-0; North Carolina: 2-0; NC State: 3-0; Charlotte: 1-0; Duke: 1-0).
- Louisville rallied for 244 yards in the opening quarter, the second-most total yards in the first period this season (totaled 352 against Syracuse in September).

- Louisville's defense held NC State to only nine first downs, the lowest by an opponent this season. It's also the fewest by a Louisville foe since Boston College totaled four in 2015.
- Louisville's 78 interception returns yards are the most since totaling 84 against Kansas State (Sept. 23, 2006).

- Lamar Jackson finished the game with 355 yards passing and three touchdowns through the air, completing 20-of-34 attempts. He also added 76 yards rushing and one score.
- He now is responsible for 34 touchdowns this year, the most in a single season in school history. Career wise, he has accounted for 57 scores that ranks fifth in school history.
- Overall, Jackson is responsible for 342 points in his career, which ranks seventh on the school's chart. This season, his 204 points are the most in program history.
- Jackson has both a rushing and passing touchdown in 10-consecutive games, 13th of his career. Both totals lead the nation over the last two seasons.
- Jackson rushed for his 16th touchdown this season, putting him in sixth in program annals. Collectively, he has 27 rushing scores for his career that is tied for fourth.
- Jackson moved into 15th on the career rushing chart with 1,868 rushing yards. His 908 this year are second most in a season, only trailing his 2015 mark of 960.
- Jackson now has 30 passing touchdowns in his career, good for 10th on the school's chart.
- Jackson accounted for 431 yards (355 passing, 76 rushing), bumping his career total to 5,869 and giving him sole possession of seventh on the school charts.
- The 74-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter is the longest of Jackson's career.
- Seth Dawkins earned his first career start. He had one catch for 10 yards.
- Brandon Radcliff, who rushed for 19 yards, surpassed 2,000 career rushing yards, becoming the 14th player in school history to achieve the feat.
- Jonathan Greenard recorded first career interception in the victory, picking off a pass in the second quarter. He added two takcles in the game.
- Blanton Creque finished the game with four field goals and six extra points. His 18 points set a school record for most points by a kicker in a game in school history.
- His four made field goals tie Chris Philpott, Art Carmody and Nate Smith for most in a game in school history.
- Jeremy Smith rushed for 51 yards and a single-game best two touchdowns – both one-yard scores.
- Cole Hikutini capped the victory with a career-best 118 receiving yards, his second career 100-yard reception game. He also had one receiving touchdown.
- Malik Williams blocked an NC State punt in the second quarter, the first since Stacy Thomas blocked one against Boston College on Nov. 8, 2014.
- Stacy Thomas, who had four totals, with a team-tying lead two for loss, earned his first career interception.
- Trumaine Washington was credited with his fifth career interception, first of the season.
- James Quick had 43 receiving yards on four catches. He moved into 13th all-time with 1,786 for his career.
- Jaylen Smith caught two passes for 90 yards and one score. His 74-yard touchdown in the first quarter is a career best.
