
No. 14 Women’s Basketball Closes Homestand Sunday, Faces Wake Forest

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The No. 14-ranked University of Louisville women's basketball team closes the month of January and its two-game homestand on Sunday, when it plays host to Wake Forest in the KFC Yum! Center at 1 p.m.
The Jan. 31 contest will air on the ACC Regional Sports Networks (Fox Sports South in Louisville), with Tom Werme (play-by-play) and Debbie Antonelli (analyst) on the call. The radio broadcast will be available on WKRD 790 AM (also on the TuneIn app) in Louisville, with Matt Andrews (play-by-play) and Adrienne Johnson (analyst) calling the action.
The Cardinals (16-5, 8-0 ACC) pushed their winning streak to 13 games on Thursday with a rout of Clemson. Louisville, 75-33 winners, limited the Tigers to just 12 points in the first half and 30.2 percent shooting for the game. The Cardinals held a 50-27 advantage on the glass and scored 22 points off Clemson's 21 turnovers.
Without leading scorer and rebounder Myisha Hines-Allen, four players scored in double figures. Briahanna Jackson had a team-high 13 points, and Asia Durr and Sam Fuehring each scored 10. Cortnee Walton and Erin DeGrate were active on the boards, collecting 10 apiece.
On the season, Hines-Allen boasts team highs in points (15.7) and rebounds (7.8), connecting on 52.3 percent of her field goals. Mariya Moore is second on the team in scoring (13.9), with a team-best 102 assists. Jackson, who is leading the team with 50 steals, is averaging 12.7 points, and Durr rounds out the top four scorers at 10.7 per game.
Nationally, Louisville is 18th in assists per game (17.0), 19th in turnover margin (+4.9), 21st in turnovers forced (20.62), and 26th in steals per game (10.7).
Wake Forest (11-10, 2-6), which defeated North Carolina and Boston College, consecutively, had its two-game winning streak snapped last time out.
The Demon Deacons fell in an early, 27-9 hole against No. 11 Florida State and lost 96-55 to the Seminoles on Thursday. Florida State won the rebounding battle 39-19 and held a 26-3 advantage in second-chance points. Wake Forest connected on 21-of-28 free throws, but turned the ball over 30 times that translated into 33 points for the Seminoles.
Ariel Stephenson came off the bench and had 20 points for Wake Forest, and Elisa Penna added 10 on 4-of-13 shooting.
On the season, Campbell is pacing the team in scoring (12.7) and is 11th in the ACC in steals per game (1.9). Milan Quinn is the top rebounder at 8.5 per game, second best in the league, with a team-best 33 blocks. Stephenson (11.9) and Penna (11.4) also are averaging double-digit points.
Nationally, Wake Forest is third in free throw attempts (489), 23rd in free throws made (303), and 37th in total rebounds (840).

SERIES HISTORY – Wake Forest vs. Louisville
Louisville and Wake Forest met for the first time in series history last year, and Louisville came from behind to earn a 79-68 victory on Jan. 11 in Winston-Salem.
Finding itself in an 11-point hole at the half, Myisha Hines-Allen rattled off 14 points and seven rebounds, and Mariya Moore added 11 in the comeback. Hines-Allen finished with 20 points and 10 boards. Louisville, which turned the ball over just seven times, scored 28 points off Wake Forest's 20 turnovers. Amber Campbell led the Demon Deacons with 15 on 6-of-9 shooting.
