No. 14 Women’s Basketball Defeats Wake Forest, Remains Perfect in ACC Play

Mariya Moore connected on five 3-pointers and finished with 26 points.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Mariya Moore scored a game-high 26 points and was one of four Louisville players who scored in double-figures, as Louisville defeated Wake Forest 78-54 on Sunday afternoon in the KFC Yum! Center.
Moore shot 5-of-10 from behind the 3-point line to lead Louisville (17-5, 9-0 ACC) to its 14th-consecutive win. Freshman Asia Durr scored 18 points off the bench, and Briahanna Jackson and Myisha Hines-Allen each added 10 points. Despite not having its best shooting performance, Louisville scored on 19 of its 25 (76.0 percent) free throw attempts. The Cardinals also registered 24 second chance points off of 22 offensive rebounds.
Fueled by nine points from Durr, Louisville used an 11-0 run in the beginning of the fourth quarter to gain full control of the game. Durr scored two 3-point field goals and converted on all three of her free-throw attempts to give Louisville a 65-41 lead over Wake Forest. The Cardinals stretched their lead out to as many as 26 points in the fourth quarter.
Amber Campbell and Ariel Stephenson both scored 18 points each to lead Wake Forest (11-11, 2-7). The rest of the team shot 6-of-17 from the field, and combined for 25 turnovers that led to 26 points for Louisville.
Moore scored 15 of her 26 points in the first half, including 11 in the second quarter. She also scored 11 points in third quarter and made two 3-pointers. The sophomore has scored 20 points or more in seven games for the Cardinals this season.
Louisville returns to action on Thursday, when it plays at North Carolina at 7 p.m. on ESPN3.
