Track and Field Finishes with Seven Wins at the Notre Dame Invitational

Men and women both finish second at the Notre Dame Invitational
Notre Dame, Ind. – The University of Louisville track and field team posted seven first-place finishes and 24 top-3 showings. Overall, both the men and women finished second in team competition, with the men scoring 122.5 points and the women scoring 111 points.

"We saw many outstanding individual performances," said head coach Dale Cowper. "On the men's side Steve Wade and Josh Hall setting new school records in the shot put and 400 meters really stand out to me along with Damar Robinson's performance in the high jump.  Emmonnie Henderson, Chanel Krause, and Bre'Yana Wash picked up critical wins for our women's squad.  I was also ecstatic to see Brown, Hankenson, Hill, and Murry all finish in the top six of the women's 60 hurdles."

On the women's side, Bre'Yana Wash won the long jump for the second straight week with a personal best mark of 6.10m. Chanel Krause won the pole vault, tying her season best with a clearance of 4.05m. Wrapping up the wins on the women's side was Emmonnie Henderson with an indoor personal best in the shot put with a throw of 16.78m. Â

Freshman Mara Zielonka had a top-3 showing on the women's side in the high jump with a jump of 1.64m. Â Morgan Zacharias finished third in the pole vault with a clearance of 3.80m. Linda Mutter finished second in the long jump with a personal best jump of 5.76m while Zielonka finished third with a personal best jump of 5.74m.Â

Dolly Nyemah finished second in the weight throw with a toss of 19.65m. Rachel Serafin finished third in the event with a personal best throw of 18.92. Freshman Raven Grant finished fourth in the 60m with a time of 7.60 and fourth in the 200m with a time of 24.60.  Holly Hanksenson finished fourth in the 60m hurdles with a personal best time of 8.72.Â

On the men's side, Edwin Kibichiy won the mile run for the second straight week with a personal best time of 4:07.40. Newcomer Damar Robinson won the high jump with a clearance of 2.16m. Steve Wade set a new school record in the shot put with a personal best throw of 18.42m. Oliver Newport won the long jump with a season best mark of 7.26m.

Sophomore Josh Hall broke his own school record with a time of 47.59 in the 400m for a second place finish. Zachery Main finished second in the 60m dash with a personal best time of 6.87. Teague Peck finished second in the 600m run with a personal best time of 1:18.29.

The 4x400m relay team of Andrew Nsuk, Jeron Brown, Hall and Peck finished second with a season best time of 3:14.94.  Martice Moore finished second in the 60m hurdles with a season best time of 8.21. Ben Williams finished second in the triple jump with a mark of 14.76m for his first competition of the season. Javen Reeves finished second in the high jump with a personal best mark of 2.10m.Â

Newport also finished third in the 60m dash with a personal best time of 7.01. Brown finished third in the long jump with a season best mark of 7.00m.  Kibichiy had a third place finish in the 3000m run with a season best time of 8:06.55. Nsuk finished fourth in the 400m dash with a personal best time of 48.18. In the pole vault, Eric Fox finished fourth clearing a personal best of 4.90m.  Â

The Cardinals will be back in action next weekend at the Indiana Relays.Â
