True freshman sets school record for rushing yards by a quarterback

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville freshman quarterback Lamar Jackson was named ACC Rookie of the Week following his breakout performance in Louisville's 45-3 victory over Samford the conference announced Monday.

Jackson broke the school record for rushing yards in a game by a quarterback with 184 yards and two scores, besting the olf mark of 162 by Jim Wagoner in 1974. Jackson also set the record for total offense in a game by a freshman with 396 yards, running for 184 yards, while completing 15-for-22 passes for 212 yards with one touchdown through the air.

Through four games, Jackson has accumulated 314 yards rushing and four touchdowns, while passing for 495 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

The Cardinals hit the road for the first time this season with a 12:30 p.m. kickoff Saturday, Oct. 3 at NC State. The game will be shown live in Louisville on WAVE3.
