ACC Preseason Coaches Poll Released
The University of Louisville men's cross country team was picked sixth while the women's team was picked 11th in the ACC Preseason Poll, as voted on by the ACC's head coaches on Wednesday. The Syracuse men's and Notre Dame women's cross country teams were selected to win the Atlantic Coast Conference championship.
The Syracuse men's team was a near-unanimous selection to win the conference after winning the 2013 and 2014 ACC men's titles in its first two years as a conference member. The Notre Dame women's team edged out North Carolina State by one point to finish atop the ACC in the women's poll.
The 2015 team features six returnees, including senior Ernest Kibet and junior Edwin Kibichiy, who both earned All-American honors with respectable finishes at the NCAA Championships which capped an impressive season. The Louisville men's squad looks to improve in their second year in the ACC after finishing eighth in their inaugural ACC Championships last season.
The women's team returns nine runners, including junior Benadate Cheruiyot. Cheruiyot, who had two top-10 finishes last season, represented the Cardinals at the NCAA Southeast Regional and finished with a season-best time of 21:17.0. Senior Leah Kiyohara and redshirt junior Kelsey Cramsey add depth to the Cardinals squad who look to build off a 12th place finish at last year's ACC Championships.
