Lacrosse Team Collects Bottle Caps for a Good Cause
This past week, the Louisville Lacrosse team collected as many bottle caps as they could for the Caps of Love Organization. The student-athletes collected caps milk cartons, water and Gatorade bottles, as well as having bottle caps sent to them from family members. The team collected around 200 bottle caps.
Â
Louisville Lacrosse was encouraged to collect as many bottle caps as possible in order to help the Caps of Love charity in their efforts to help disabled children all around the country by raising money and providing them with wheelchairs. The organization is able to do this by collecting plastic bottle caps and then sell them to larger companies to be recycled and re-used in order to create new products such as park benches, automotive interiors, paint cans and many other supplies.Â
Â
Collecting the bottle caps serves as a dual purpose. Selling the plastic back helps prevent the bottle caps from ending up in landfills while putting them to better use.
Â
"We are proud to be a part of this amazing community and to have contributed to this great cause," said junior defender Stephanie McNamara.
