LOUISVILLE, Ky. - As three sport high school athlete, Casey Cummo brings a competitive spirit to the Louisville lacrosse team as a member of the 2014-15 recruiting class.
"Casey is a defender at heart," said head coach Kellie Young. "She has a very sweet personality but on the field she is very competitive and you certainly don't want to mess with her on the field." A three-sport athlete at Hauppauge High in New York, Cummo has accumulated a total of 10 varsity letters thus far. She enters her senior lacrosse season after lettering four years in track and three years in both lacrosse and soccer.
Cummo's lacrosse career at Hauppauge has been a successful one, as she has garnered multiple accolades throughout her tenure. As a sophomore in 2013, she was named both a Brine All-American Champion and an All-League athlete. During her junior season she was named a US Lacrosse School Girls Selection. She also earned All-County honors and was named the team's MVP.
Her athleticism is apparent, as she received multiple track and soccer honors throughout her career. She received winter track Rookie of the Year honors in 2011-12 and All-League and team MVP honors in 2013-14. Along with that, she was named as her soccer team's Rookie of the Year in 2012 and to the All-League team in 2014.
Cummo is following in the footsteps of multiple relatives who participated in collegiate athletics. Her uncle Richard Zeitler played both basketball and baseball at Georgetown, while her uncle John Zeitler also played baseball as a Hoya. Her cousins Kristin and Jamie Zeitler both played collegiate lacrosse, Kristin at Fairfield and Jamie at Quinnipiac.
