DAY 6: ROME, THE VATICAN CITY
This day was one we will never forget for the rest of our lives! We drove to Rome and visited the Pantheon in the morning before having some down time to shop and look around. After this, we drove to the Vatican City to meet our tour guide who would bring us through the city and to the famous Sistine Chapel.
Everyone had to have their shoulders and knees covered to enter Vatican City and off we went! It was so amazing to see all of the paintings on the ceilings and walls still intact and looking as '3D' as ever.
We were guided through the city for about an hour until we reached the Sistine Chapel. Upon entering everyone had to be quiet and keep their cameras away. Every so often the guards would yell "Silencio!" but we were all not speaking and in awe of what we were looking at anyway. To be able to see Michaelangelo's incredible art work in person was of the greatest things we will ever have the chance to experience!
Once we had to leave the Sistine Chapel we walked over to St. Peter's church where the sun was shining through onto the alter. This church was also incredibly beautiful and fortunately we were allowed to take pictures inside of it! When we exited the church we walked to the front of the city and got to see the balcony where the Pope stands.
What an incredible day filled with so much history! After this we of course took pictures and headed back to the hotel for a nice Italian dinner before going to sleep.
Thanks for reading! Ciao!
