Field Hockey Welcomes Three Standout Players

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville field hockey coach Justine Sowry has announced the addition of Maria Gomez, Tess Hannah and Ayeisha McFerran to the Cardinals' roster.
They will join the team in the fall of 2015 along with fellow newcomers Annie Himsworth, Abby Julius, Madison Land, Taylor Stone and Katie Walsh.
"Our coaching staff, in particular Lucas Piccioli, has worked very hard with recruiting and we are excited to be able to add three quality student-athletes to our 2015 roster," said Sowry. "Each provides strength and stability across all positional lines and will only strengthen our current talented squad. We cannot wait for preseason and to attack the fall season."

| Maria Gomez Gomez, is a defender from Madrid, Spain where she plays for San Pablo Valdeluz Complutense. She helped her team to national titles at the U14, U16 and U18 levels as well as the national regional tournament the past two years. Prior to that, her team posted Silver and Bronze Medal finishes in the Spanish Championship in 2013 and 2012 respectively. She also participated in the High Performance Centre of Field Hockey in Madrid from 2009 through 2015 and played for the Doncaster Hockey Club of Melbourne in the summer of 2014. | Tess Hannah Hannah, a native of Brisbane, Australia, played hockey for Millfield School, one of the top three teams in England for the past three years. The midfielder/forward is currently a member of Scottish U18 team and previously played for the Scottish U16 team. Prior to moving to Scotland, she was a member of the English U16 squad. Hannah earned Player of the Tournament honors at the 2014 International School Hockey Tournament in Cape Town, South Africa as well as 2012 Australian Indoor Nationals. In 2013, Hannah was named captain of the Wessex Leopards. In addition to her field hockey accolades, Hannah also represented Queensland, Australia in water polo, swimming, indoor hockey and field hockey. | Ayeisha McFerran McFerran joins Louisville from Northern Ireland where she is the youngest member of the Irish National Team and has earned 24 senior caps. While playing in the World League 2 tournament, the goalkeeper came off the bench to help the Irish national team beat Canada in an overtime shootout and win the championship.
