Track and Field Wins Five Events at the Tennessee Challenge

The University of Louisville track and field teams finished with five wins at the Tennessee Challenge on Saturday. Emmonnie Henderson led the women with two wins in the discus and shot put while Edwin Kibichiy led the men with wins in the 1500 meter run and the 3000 meter run.
Henderson had a career day, taking wins in both the shot put and the discus with personal bests. Henderson threw a personal best of 16.35m/53-07.75 to win the shot put. In the discus, Henderson threw a personal best of 57.54m/188-09 for the win. Henderson now ranks third all-time behind All-Americans Chinwe Okoro and Jere' Summers. Dolly Nyemah finished third in the discus throw with a season best throw of 48.82m/160-02.
Nyemah finished ninth in the hammer throw with a personal best throw of 53.53m/175-07. Rachel Serafin finished 10th with a throw of 52.21m/171-03 while Caitlin Gilmore finished 12th with a throw of 51.55m/169-01. Megan Brooks finished 18th with a throw of 40.35m/132-04.
On the men's side, Isaac Bowling gave the Cardinals a sweep in the shot put. Bowling won the event with a throw of 17.17m/56-04.00. Steve Wade finished sixth with a throw of 16.20m/53-01.75. In the discus throw Codie Hamsley led the Cardinals with a throw of 51.92m/170-04 to finish fifth. Trevor Troutman finished eighth with a personal best throw of 50.11m/164-05 while Wade finished 10th with a throw of 48.75m/159-11.
Nils Westrich led the men in the hammer throw, finishing fifth with a throw of 59.82m/196-03. Troutman finished sixth with a throw of 56.63m/185-09. Darrius Lopez finished 12th with a throw of 51.68m/169-07. Katie Wimpari finished ninth in the javelin throw with a season best throw of 38.73m/127-01.
Edwin Kibichiy won the 1500m with a new personal best time of 3:45.79. He was just a quarter of a second off of Wesley Korir's school record of 3:45.57. Japhet Kipkoech finished second with a time of 3:46.71 for a new personal best. Andrew Stewart finished fifth with a time of 3:49.81 for a new season best performance. Ernest Kibet finished seventh with a time of 3:51.29.
The Cardinals swept the 3000m, led by Kibichiy with a season best time of 8:18.13. Kibet also ran a season best to finish second with a time of 8:26.31. Kipkoech completed the sweep, finishing third with a season best time of 8:31.83.
Freshman Teague Peck led the Cardinals in the 800 meter run with career best time of 1:50.60 to finish second. Andrew Nsuk finished 16th with a personal best time of 1:55.22 while Andrew Stewart finished 21st with a season best time of 1:57.48. On the women's side, Kelsey Cramsey led the women with season best of 2:08.47 in the women's 800 meter run to finish second. Mia Ross finished 18th with a time of 2:17.10. Michelle Molodynia finished fourth in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:31.86.
Benadate Cheruiyot led the women in the 3000 meter run with a season best time of 9:49.26 to finish third. Bailey Davis finished fifth with a personal best time of 9:53.90 while Claire Noser finished seventh with a season best time of 9:58.60. Senior Megan Klein finished 10th with a season best time of 10:08.25 while Leah Kiyohara also had a season best time of 10:26.76 to finish 16th.
Maggie Gilbertson led the Cardinals with a second place finish in the women's high jump with a 1.75m/5-08.75. Linda Mutter finished fourth, tying her personal best with a jump of 1.70m/5-07.00. Javen Reeves tied his personal best of 2.05m/6-08.75 to finish third on the men's side.
Bre'Yana Wash led the Cardinals in the long jump to finish third with a jump of 6.03m/19-09.50. Hannah Cox finished 10th with a jump of 5.29m/17-04.25. On the men's side, Oliver Newport finished ninth with a jump of 6.71m/22-00.25. Jeron Brown finished 11th with a season best jump of 6.53m/21-05.25 while Eric Fox finished 12th with a jump of 5.95m/19-06.25
Devin Valentine led the men in the triple jump with a personal best jump of 15.01m/49-03.00 to finish fourth. Marcus Jegede also finished with a personal best jump of 14.81m/48-07.25 to finish fifth. Kaleb Rowe finished eighth with a jump of 14.02m/46-00.00. On the women's side, Brittany Owens finished sixth with a season best jump of 12.26m/40-02.75.
In the Pole Vault, Kelsey DeLapp led the Cardinals with an eighth place finish, tying her season best with a mark of 3.72m/12-02.50. Jade Hawkins cleared 3.57m/11-08.50 to finish 11th while Chelsea Bingham finished 13th with a mark of 3.42m/11-02.50. On the men's side, Cain Cooper finished 16th with a mark of 4.61m/15-01.50 while Jacob Marguet cleared 4.61m/15-01.50 to finish 17th.
Kayla Tyson finished with personal best times in the 100 meter dash and the 200 meter dash. Tyson finished fourth in the 100m with a time of 11.69 and also finished fourth in the 200m with a time of 24.16. Zachery Main finished seventh in the men's 100m with a personal best time of 10.81. Main then finished 10th in the 200m with a time of 22.00 while Fox finished 21st with a time of 23.61.
Josh Hall led the Cardinals in the 400 meter dash with a personal best time of 47.07 to finish fourth. Antoine Keys finished ninth with a time of 48.17. Taylor Bradley finished ninth for the women with a time of 56.99 while La'Bianca Frazier finished 10th with a time of 57.07.
Brianne Brown led the Cardinals in the 100 meter hurdles with a fifth place finish with a time of 14.49. Zahara Gully finished ninth with a time of 14.79. Mutter finished 15th with a time of 15.51. Fox finished sixth in the men's 110 meter hurdles with a time of 16.34.
Gwen Shaw led the Cardinals with a season best time of 1:01.93 in the 400 meter hurdles to finish sixth. Alexis Murry finished ninth with a time of 1:02.99 while Gully finished with a personal best time of 1:03.98 to finish 10th.
The relay team of Murry, Tyson, Bradley and Wash finished second in the 4x100 meter relay with a season best time of 46.04. The relay team of Murry, Frazier, Cramsey and Bradley also finished second in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:48.16.
Louisville will be back in action on Friday, May 8 as they host the Cardinal Twilight at Cardinal Park.
