Marchanka Earns CRCA First Team All-Region Honor

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville senior Darya Marchanka was named First Team All-Region by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association, while 10 Cardinals were chosen as Scholar Athletes.
A native of Minsk, Belarus, Marchanka rowed in the Cardinals' varsity eight boat throughout the season and was a First Team All-Atlantic Coast Conference honoree. Marchanka closed her collegiate rowing career as a two-time All-Region honoree as well as a two-time All-Conference selection.
The All-Region awards recognize the outstanding performances of rowers and coxswains from each of the five regions, organized into first and second-team selections. Nominated student-athletes are evaluated on the strength of their team's regional finish, coaches recommendations and 2,000-meter erg score. Nominees must be eligible student-athletes who have competed in their teams' varsity boat in 75 percent of races this season. These athletes will be eligible for All-America awards selection following the NCAA Rowing Championships.
Earning Scholar Athlete honors from the CRCA were sophomore Tiffany Chea, sophomore Madeleine Chesney, junior Cynthia Doyle, senior Jami Montesano, sophomore Kylie Noltemeyer, junior Katie Nord, senior Kylen Pattermann, junior Hanna Spittel, sophomore Maddy Staubitz and junior Elise Valantine. To be eligible for CRCA scholar athlete consideration, rowers had to be in at least their second year of eligibility, had to row in an NCAA or IRA eligible boat for a minimum of 75 percent of the spring races and had to have a 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher for her career.
