Track and Field Heads to NCAA East Preliminary Round

Twenty Cardinals will head to Jacksonville, Fla. to compete at the 2015 NCAA East Preliminary Round. Events will begin Thursday at noon at Hodges Stadium on the University of North Florida campus.
Thursday's events feature nine of the 20 student-athletes. Brad Vivace will compete in the men's hammer throw, before Emmonnie Henderson competes in the women's shot put and Chanel Krause vaults in the women's pole vault competition. On the track, Calvin Arsenault will run in the men's 400m hurdles first round and Kayla Tyson will compete in the women's 100m first round. Josh Hall, Antoine Keys, and Andrew Nsuk will all compete in the men's 400m first round, and Ernest Kibet will run in the semifinal of the men's 10,000m.
Henderson will compete in the women's discus throw on Friday, while Javen Reeves will compete in the men's high jump. Bre'Yana Wash will also compete on Friday in the women's long jump. On the track, Edwin Kibichiy will run in the quarterfinal of the men's 3000m steeplechase, while Benadate Cheruiyot will run in the women's 3000m steeplechase quarterfinal.
Seven student-athletes will compete in field events on Saturday to round out the 2015 NCAA East Preliminary Round. Caitlin Gilmore, Dolly Nyemah, and Rachel Serafin will all start out the day competing in the women's hammer throw. Brittany Owens is set to compete in the women's triple jump, while Isaac Bowling will participate in the men's shot put competition. Maggie Gilbertson will jump in the women's high jump, before Ben Williams rounds out the day with the men's triple jump competition.
Tickets for the meet are currently on sale, and all seating is general admission. Tickets can be purchased by calling the North Florida ticket office at (904) 620-2473 or visiting the school's athletics website. On meet day, tickets will be able to be purchased at the gate starting one hour prior to the first event.
