Becca Maddock and Elisa Garcia accept the Cardinal Cup Award
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville field hockey team was well-represented with four awards at the 2015 Louie Awards presented Monday evening at the Louisville Palace Theatre.
The team took home the Upset of the Year Award for their 3-2 win over top-ranked North Carolina on Sept. 20, 2014. Becca Maddock broke a 2-2 tie with five minutes remaining for the program's first win over a No. 1-ranked opponent - and the Cards' first ACC win.
The field hockey team also won the Cardinal Cup - an annual competition among the teams which encourages involvement in the CardsCARE program on many levels including life skills, community service academics, career development and athletic achievement.
Field hockey earned the CardsCARE team award while senior Becca Maddock was the individual CardsCARE Award winner. Both are awarded annually to an individual and team who exemplify a commitment to community service.
