LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville men's golf team will travel to Franklin, Tenn. this weekend (April 3-5) to compete in 14th annual Mason Rudolph Championship. The tournament, which will mark the Cardinals' fourth event of the spring 2015 season, is hosted by Vanderbilt University and will be played at the Vanderbilt Legends Club golf course.
The Mason Rudolph Championship will see Louisville compete in a field of 13 other schools. Outside of the Cardinals and tournament host Vanderbilt, this year's field is set to include Alabama, Ball State, College of Charleston, East Tennessee State, Georgia Southern, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Kennesaw State, Liberty, Mercer, Notre Dame, and SMU.
Each team is set to play 18 holes Friday through Sunday on the Legends Club's South Course; a par-71, 7,100-yard setup. Teams will tee off at 8 a.m. CT on Friday and Saturday, and at 7:30 a.m. CT on Sunday. The Louisville lineup will consist of Junior Robin Sciot-Siegrist, sophomore Robert Geibel, sophomore JD Lehman, seniors Antoine LeSaux and Trevor Sluman, and junior Gus Lundquist.
This will be the second consecutive year in which the Cardinals have taken part in the annual event. In 2013-14, the Cardinals tied for third place in tournament, shooting 292-290-283=865 as a team after 54 holes. Individually, then-sophomore Robin Sciot-Siegrist led the way for the Cardinals by tying for second on the individual leaderboard with a 3-under par 210. Alabama bested the field by firing 281-294-272=847 as a team. Vanderbilt finished nine strokes back with a team score of 289-284-283=856 to finish as the runner-up.
The Cardinals, who have netted three top-five tournament finishes this season, are looking to get back on track after struggling in their most recent appearance. The Cardinals shot 286-289-295=870 as a team to finish 13th at the Schenkel Invitational (March 20-21). Robin Sciot-Siegrist was the Cardinals' top performer at the event, tying for ninth place with an 8-under par score of 68-69-71=225.
