LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville men's golf team will travel to West Lafayette, Ind. this weekend (April 18-19) to compete in the annual Boilermaker Invitational. Hosted by Purdue University, the 12th installment of the event will mark the Cardinals' fifth event of the spring and tenth of the 2014-15 season.
Held at the Brick Boilermaker Golf Complex, action will take place on the Kampen Course, which, in addition to being named one of the ten best college course in America, has hosted the 2008 NCAA Championship and will host a 2017 NCAA Regional. The par-72, 7,465-yard course will be played over two days, with teams playing 36 holes on Saturday and finishing the final 18 on Sunday.
The Cardinals will compete as part of a 15-team field featuring a handful of talented teams. In addition to Louisville, the event's complete lineup includes Purdue, Ohio State, Cincinnati, Northwestern, Kent State, Illinois, Miami (Ohio), Indiana, Ball State, Northern Illinois, Toledo, Wisconsin, Georgia Regents, and Southern Illinois.
This will mark the third consecutive year the Cardinals have taken part in the tournament. The team has enjoyed success in each of its last two trips. In 2014, Louisville earned a fourth place finish by shooting 295-291-289= 875 as a team, with Robin Sciot-Siegrist placing second on the individual leaderboard with a six-under 210.
