April 13, 2015 | Softball
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The series-deciding game between the University of Louisville and No. 8/10 Florida State was cancelled in the fourth inning due to heavy rain. The game will not be made up and the series will remain tied at 1-1 with Louisville (24-13, 12-5 ACC) winning the first game 1-0 and Florida State (34-11, 14-3) taking the second 9-1.
After an 18-minute rain delay before the game started, the Seminoles struck early with a run in the first. Morgan Klaevermann walked, stole second and came around to score on a two-out RBI single by Alex Powers.
Louisville starter Maryssa Becker settled in after the first inning, allowing only two runners and retiring six straight after issuing a leadoff walk in the third.
Trailing 1-0, the Cardinals put two runners on to start the home half of the fourth. Jordan McNary was hit by a pitch and Maryssa Becker drew a walk. Brittany Sims was at the plate with a 3-1 count before heavy rainfall forced the game to be called. It will not count as an official game.
Louisville will step out of ACC play this weekend when the Cards travel to Oxford, Miss. for a three-game series with Ole Miss April 17-19.
