No. 11 Lacrosse Travels to Virginia This Weekend

The No. 11/12 University of Louisville lacrosse team is set to face No. 6/8 Virginia on Sunday in Charlottesville, Va.
The Cards enter the game at 9-4 and 1-3 in the ACC after falling to No. 2 North Carolina 18-5 last weekend. Hannah Koloski scored two goals to lead the Cardinals in the loss.
No. 6/8 Virginia enters Saturday's match up boasting an overall record of 9-5 and 2-3 in conference play. The Cavaliers saw its six-game win streak end when they fell 14-4 in a conference matchup to Notre Dame last weekend.
Sunday's meeting will be the first meeting between the two teams.
Scouting the Cardinals
Louisville owns an overall record of 9-4 and is ranked 11th in the nation by the IWLCA poll and 12th in the Inside Lacrosse Poll. As a team, Louisville is ranked 11th in the nation in scoring offense, averaging 14.23 goals per game and allowing 8.12 goals per contest. Additionally, the Cardinals rank second in the nation in draw controls, averaging 16.38. Faye Brust leads the team with 55 points, scoring 45 goals and 10 assists on the season. Kaylin Morissette ranks second in the nation in draw controls, averaging 11.15 per game, while also grabbing 26 ground balls. Morissette is second on the team with 51 points with 38 goals and 13 assists. Hannah Koloski is ranked eighth in the nation with 41 goals and is 16th in the nation with 3.15 goals per game. Koloski (41 goals and four assists) has totaled 45 points while Cortnee Daley (35 goals and eight assists) has totaled 43 points for the Cards.
Scouting the Cavaliers
Virginia enters Saturday's matchup ranked sixth in the nation by the IWLCA poll and 8th in the Inside Lacross Poll. The Cavaliers enter the game with an overall record of 9-5 and 2-3 in conference play. The Cavaliers are coming off a 14-4 loss against Notre Dame, which snapped a six-game win streak. North Carolina ranks 23rd in the nation with 12.50 goals per game. Liza Blue leads the Cavaliers with 35 goals while teammate Casey Bocklet adds 28 goals and 22 assists, amassing a team-high total of 50 points. Courtney Swan adds 24 goals and 25 assists, compiling a total of 49 points. Kelly Boyd adds 22 goals for the Cavaliers. Goalkeeper Rachel Vander Kolk has a total of 107 saves on the season, averaging 7.64 per game.
SEASON NOTES
First Shutout in School History
The Cardinals earned their first shutout in school history against Duquesne on March 4. Louisville defeated the Dukes 17-0. Goalkeeper Ashley Peacock became the first keeper in school history to earn a shutout.
Ranked Opponents The Cardinals have played the toughest schedule in school history this season. Heading into today's game, the Cardinal will play its fi fth ranked opponent. Louisville's three losses have come against schools ranked in the top four of the nation. Of the five ranked opponents this season, four are ranked in the top four. North Carolina will be the highest ranked opponent the Cards have faced this year. The Cardinals are 1-3 so far this season against ranked opponents with a win over No. 20 Denver and losses to No. 3 Boston College, No. 4 Duke, and No. 4 Northwestern.
Morissette Breaks Career Draws Record
Junior Kaylin Morissette broke the career draw controls record in the first game of the season. Morissette set a new school record with 18 draw controls against Longwood. Brust and Morissette Score 100th Career Goal
Senior Faye Brust became the sixth player and junior Kaylin Morissette became the seventh player in school history to score 100 goals. Brust's second goal in the Canisius game put her over the century mark for her career. Morissette became the seventh player in school history to score 100 goals with her fifth goal against Duquesne. Brust is fifth all-time in scoring with 142 goals while Morissette is sixth with 124 goals. Below is Louisville's all-time scorers list: Name Yrs. Goals

Morissette Named to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List
The Tewaaraton Foundation has announced that Louisville's Kaylin Morissette was one of 50 players named to the watch list. The lists include the top players across all three divisions of NCAA lacrosse and highlight the early contenders for the 2015 Tewaaraton Award, presented by Under Armour. Morissette leads the team in scoring this season with 35 goals. She also leads the team in draw controls with 118 on the season.
Koloski Steps Up
Hannah Koloski made an immediate impact this season. The sophomore led Louisville with a career-best six goals in the season opener against Cincinnati. She is currently ranked 15th in the nation with 3.25 goals per game. She is second on the team in goals with 39 this season. She ranks third on the team with 43 points on the year.
Gerdings Career Day
Junior Kelli Gerding scored a career-high four goals in the Cards' 18-5 win over William & Mary on March 7. Gerding scored two goals in the first half, including her first goal of the half to give the Cards a cushion when the Tribe had gotten within one goal. She started the scoring in the second half to five the Cards a 10-2 lead. She scored her final goal of the game for a 14-2 Louisville lead.
ACC Preseason Poll
The University of Louisville lacrosse team was picked to finish seventh in the ACC Women's Lacrosse Preseason Poll. North Carolina and Syracuse have been selected as the preseason favorites. The Orange and the Tar Heels each received four first-place votes and 59 points in the balloting among the ACC's eight head coaches. Two points separated the third, fourth and fifth place teams selected in the predicted order of finish as Duke was picked third (40), Virginia fourth (39) and Boston College (38) fifth. Preseason All-ACC
Junior midfield Kaylin Morissette was one of six returning First- and-Second Team IWLCA All-Americans as selected to the preseason All-ACC Team. The 2014 BIG EAST Midfielder of the Year, Morissette broke the school's single-season record for draw controls just 10 games into the season and finished the year with 169. Nationally, she ranked second in the category with 8.45 per game. She also tallied 43 goals and 12 assists, while collecting 33 ground balls. Morissette was named a second team IWLCA All-American. She needs just 12 draw controls to become the school's career leader in the category. Through her first two seasons, the Bowmanville, Ontario, native has totaled 100 points that includes 86 goals.
Brust and Daley Named Captains
Head coach Kellie Young announced that Faye Brust and Cortnee Daley will serve as Louisville's 2015 team captains as the Cardinals look to build off the momentum from last year for another record-breaking season. "I'm excited to announce this year's captains," said Young. "We are happy about the players' selection of captains and believe in their ability to guide their teammates. Their cohesive passion is remarkable and will be a driving force behind our team's success this spring."
