Track and Field Hosts Lenny Lyles/Clark Wood Invitational

This Week: The Louisville men's and women's track and field teams host their first home meet of the 2015 season as they continue competition this weekend at Cardinal Park for the Lenny Lyles/Clark Wood Invitational.
The two-day event begins with four events on Friday afternoon beginning at 3:30 p.m. on the Throws Field with the men's hammer throw and women's shot put. The women's hammer throw and men's shot put will follow.
Saturday features a larger schedule of competition with field events beginning at 11:00 a.m. with the men's discus and men's long jump. Running events are slated to begin at 1:00 p.m. with the women's 100m hurdles preliminaries.
This weekend, Louisville will welcome Bellarmine, Central Michigan, DePaul, Illinois State, and Indianapolis for the meet.
Up Next: Louisville heads south to the Sunshine State as they compete in the Florida Relays in Gainesville, Fla. for a two-day meet from April 3-4.
SEASON NOTES:
Relay Squads Set Tone at Alabama Relays: In their first outdoor competition of the season at the Alabama Relays, the Cardinals set five new school relay records. Both distance medley squads, both 4x200 relay teams, as well as the men's 4x400 relay squad set school records in their events.
Distance Teams Break School Records: The Cardinals broke three school records on the final day of the Alabama Relays with the distance medley teams breaking two of them. The men's distance team of Andrew Stewart, Carlos Coleman, Teague Peck, and Edwin Kibichiy took first place with a time of 9:50.96 breaking the 39 year record of 10:09.00 that was set in 1976 at the Florida Relays. The women's distance team of Michelle Molodynia, Zahara Gully, Mia Ross, and Benadate Cheruiyot finished third in the event with a time of 11:38.72, eclipsing the previous school record of 11:51.96 that was set in 1995 at the Alabama Relays.
Relay Team Continues Momentum: After a fourth place finish at the ACC Championships to conclude the indoor season, the men's 4x400 meter relay team of Andrew Nsuk, Jeron Brown, Teague Peck, and Josh Hall carried their momentum to the outdoor season with a new school record. The four raced to the finish with a time of 3.12.93 that broke the previous record of 3:13.12 that was set at the 2006 BIG EAST Championship.
Cards Show Speed in 4x200 Relays: Both Cardinal 4x200 meter relay teams set school records at the Alabama Relays. The team of Alexis Murry, Kayla Tyson, Taylor Bradley, and Bre'Yana Wash finished sixth with a time of 1:39.34. Their time broke the previous record of 1:41.55 that was set at the Alabama Relays in 2000. The men's team composed of Josh Hall, Antoine Keys, Andrew Nsuk, and Carlos Coleman finished seventh with a time of 1:26.86. They broke the school record of 1:27.27 that was also set at the Alabama Relays back in 2004.
