
Cardinals Tied for Ninth at Schenkel Invitational

STATESBORO, Ga. - Playing in its third tournament of the spring season, the University of Louisville men's golf team finds itself tied for ninth place after the first round of Schenkel Invitational. The Cardinals shot 286 (-2) as a team in the first round of the tournament, which is being held at the Forest Height Country Club in Statesboro, Ga.
The Cardinals find themselves 13 strokes back of Vanderbilt, who lead the 15-team field after shooting 273 (-15) in the first round. Auburn is one stroke behind Vandy, with a first round score of 274. Wake Forest (279), NC State (281), and Georgia Southern (282) round out the top five at the close of the tournament's opening day.
Junior Robin Sciot-Siegrist shot a 4-under 68 in the first round to tie for fourth, ending the day as the Cardinals' top individual finisher. Firing a 71, Max Walz finished the round tied for 31st, while JD Lehman shot an even 72 to tie for 38th.
Sophomore Robert Geibel, who ended last week's Seminole Invitational tied for ninth, struggled in Friday's opening round, tying for 69th place with a score of 75. Rounding out the Cardinals' lineup, Gus Lundquist tied for 86th after shooting a 78.
Due to the threat of inclement weather on Sunday, the tournament schedule has been rearranged, and will conclude Saturday. Participating teams will tee-off a 36-hole day with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
