
Cardinals finish Sixth at Seminole Invitational

TALLAHASSEE, FLA. - The University of Louisville men's golf team finished sixth at the Seminole Intercollegiate this weekend. The tournament, which featured a field of 17 teams, was hosted by Florida State University and was played at the Southwood Golf Course in Tallahassee, Fla.
After finishing in a tie for fourth place through two round, the Cardinals posted a third round score of 287 on Sunday to finish the tournament with an overall score of 855 (-9). The Cardinals, who shot 281 and 287 in the previous two rounds respectively, finished 12 strokes behind Florida State, who bested the tournament's field with a team score of 843 (-21).
Sophomore Robert Geibel was U of L's highest individual finisher, posting a 69-69-73= 211 (-5) to tie for a ninth place finish in a field of 90 competitors. Junior Robin Sciot-Siegrist finished one stroke back of Geibel, carding a 69-72-71= 212 (-4) to tie for 15th.
Sophomore JD Lehman and junior Gus Lundquist each tied for 48th place with a three-round total of 220 (+4). Rounding out the Louisville lineup, senior Max Walz carded a 224 (+8) to finished the event tied for 62nd.
The tournament's champion, Florida State, made up ground in Sunday's third round. After finishing the second day slotted in a tie for seventh, the Seminoles a tournament-best team round of 271 on Sunday to shoot to the top of the leaderboard. The Seminoles finished the tournament with a score of 281-287-287= 843 (-21).
East Tennessee State's Gudmundur Kristjansson shot 63-67-69= 199 (-17) to win top the individual leaderboard, finishing three strokes better than Florida State's Jack Maguire (68-70-64=202).
The Cardinals will return to tournament action next week, when they travel to Statesboro, Ga. to compete in the three-day Schenkel Invitational.
