Track and Field Set For ACC Championships

The Louisville men's and women's track and field teams will compete in their first Atlantic Coast Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships will be held this Thursday (Feb. 26) through Saturday (Feb. 28) at Rector Field House on the Virginia Tech campus.
The ACC Indoor Championships kicks off on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. with the women's pentathlon. The field events are slated to begin at 4 p.m. with the men's weight throw final. Running events begin at 6 p.m. with the women's distance medley relay final.
The teams will be back in action on Friday morning as the heptathlon continues at 11 a.m. Field events are scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. with the men's high jump while running events are slated to begin at 2 p.m. with the women's mile run qualifiers. The meet will conclude on Saturday with the women's shot put final at 10 a.m. and running events are scheduled to start at 12 p.m. with the women's mile run final.
The Cardinals face elite competition in the ACC with three women's and two men's teams having national rankings in the USTFCCCA Top 25. Virginia Tech has the highest ranking of the ACC teams with the men holding the No. 8 spot. Florida State is the lone ACC team with both of their squads ranked with the men standing at No. 19 and the women being ranked No. 22. No. 15 Clemson and No. 24 Notre Dame also represent the conference in the women's rankings.
In addition to ACC team and individual titles, conference student-athletes will seek to enhance their rankings heading into the 2015 NCAA Indoor Championships, scheduled for March 13-14 at the Randal Tyson Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Saturday's action will be shown live via ESPN3, beginning at 12 noon.
