ESTERO, Fla. – The University of Louisville women's basketball team returns to action on Friday, when it begins competition in the Gulf Coast Showcase at Germain Arena in Estero, Fla.

The Cardinals play either LSU or Purdue on Saturday and then an opponent yet to be determined on Sunday.
Louisville, which is competing in its 20th tournament in school history in the month of November, has dropped its first two decisions of the year by a combined six points: losses to California (75-71) on Nov. 15 and Western Kentucky (71-69) on Nov. 21.
Against Western Kentucky, Briahanna Jackson paced Louisville for the second-consecutive contest with a game-high 24 points. Mariya Moore added 13 points, and Myisha Hines-Allen fell just shy of her second career double-double with eight points and 11 boards. Cortnee Walton pulled down a career-high 13 rebounds.
Collectively, Louisville shot just 33.3 percent (24-of-72) from the floor, but outrebounded Western Kentucky 53-35. Notably, the Cardinals logged 31 offensive boards, the most in a game since the 2002-03 team collected 33 against Cincinnati. Defensively, Louisville forced Western Kentucky into 19 turnovers.
Marist (0-4) is coming off a 61-47 loss to St. John's on Nov. 22, Marist's fourth-straight defeat.
St. John's took a 22-13 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. Marist shot just 30.9 percent from the floor, going 4-for-23 from 3-point range. St. John's capitalized on Marist's 18 turnovers, converting them into 21 points. Sydney Coffey had 16 points in the loss, and Tori Jarosz added 12 points and 13 rebounds. The Red Foxes received just nine points from their bench.
Through four games, Jarosz is averaging team highs of 14.5 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 11 blocks. Coffey is second in scoring, producing 13.5 points and a team-best 16 assists.
Marist returns three starters from last year's team that went 21-12, including a 15-5 mark in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference to finish second in the regular-season standings. The Red Foxes advanced to the conference tournament championship game, falling to Quinnipiac. Marist, which reached the first round of the WNIT last year, was picked to finish second in the MAAC preseason coaches' poll. Returning starters Jarosz (13.0 points per game) and Coffey (13.0 points per game) were named to the preseason all-conference first team.
