Cards are 4-0 in ACC
Janelle Jenkins had 12 kills, three aces and two blocks to lead the University of Louisville volleyball team to a 25-12, 25-12, 25-17 win over ACC foe Boston College Sunday afternoon at the KFC Yum! Center.
Â
"I thought that the difference in this match was Molly Sauer," said UofL head coach Anne Kordes.  You just don't notice it. She runs to the ball and is in system. She gives us an opportunity to set up Katie for opportunities. It's kind of fun to watch. Give the credit to her, it's pretty amazing to watch. She calms everyone else down. I'm just really excited about Molly's play. A lot of players played today and it was really fun to see. I thought we did a great job."
Â
Uof L hit .282 for the match with 7.5 blocks. Aniah Philo had 12 kills, an ace and two blocks. Molly Sauer had a match-high 17 digs. The Cards are now 4-0 in the ACC and 9-4 overall. Boston College is 9-7, 1-3.Â
Â
Louisville came out strong in the first set, taking a 13-6 lead early and then slamming the door with a 12-2 run down the stretch. Aniah Philo hit .625 with 10 kills from the left side. Maggie DeJong had two blocks and Janelle Jenkins had five kills and two aces. Boston College hit .029 and had only six kills.
Â
In the second game, the Cards powered to a 16-5 lead and then rolled to a 25-12 win after emptying the bench.
Â
The Eagles came out of the break energized, staying within three at 11-8 when BC scored on a UofL blocking error. The Eagles stalled as the Cards broke open the lead at six at 19-13 when Janelle Jenkins scored. The Cards then rolled to a 25-17 win.
Â
"I think Boston College is better than they played. There's no doubt about that. I watched them play on Friday night against a good team. It's over with now. We have a big week this week playing on the road. We haven't been on the road in a little while. We use these opportunities to polish what we have been working on and we've got to stay focused.Â
Â
The Cards head to Georgia Tech on Friday and then on to Clemson on Sunday as the ACC slate continues.
